Italian major awarded State Department internship in Milan
Hannah Svelling, a double major in Italian Studies and Communication with a minor in Economics, has been awarded a Spring internship position with the US State Department’s Consulate in Milan, Italy. She will work in the Political and Economic Section of the Mission, which “reports on and seeks to influence key aspects of the U.S.-Italian economic and political relationship in Northern Italy. [POL/ECON] diplomats meet with political and business leaders throughout our consular district and draft reports for Washington on political and economic issues including party politics, immigration, economic development, finance, and the U.S. military presence in Italy. Past intern projects have included planning trips and assisting with visits for the Ambassador and other high level visitors in our district, speaking to Italian students about U.S. culture, drafting remarks for the Ambassador and Consul General, planning and participating in information gathering trips for the POL/ECON staff, updating biographical files, and a wide array of research.” Congratulazioni, Hannah!
